Isulong SEOph SEO Contest Ends September 30, 2006

By Benj Arriola - Posted on Fri Sep 15, 2006

With only half a month remaining in the Isulong SEOph Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Contest, Google has not been moving the search results that often for the keyphrase Isulong SEOph since the last Google dance of August 26, 2006 as many of the competitors still try to cram their way to get a prize winning spot in the SEO Contest organized by SEO Philippines headed by its founder Marc Macalua.

The Isulong SEOph Contest was initiated by the members of the SEO Philippines growing community of SEO advocates within the country of the Philippines and includes many foreign members as well, most of which has been observed to come from the United States and India. The group is still continuing to grow in the mailing list and is now more than 300 members all discussing various topics on SEO.

The contest started last June 1, 2006 where the keywords Isulong SEOph were showing absolutely zero results on all major searching engines. And currently, Google now detects about 1 million pages with the keyphrase Isulong SEOph after the contests has gone into it’s 4th and final month. Being an international SEO contest, but mainly for Filipinos worldwide, the search engine of choice for the contest is Google Philippines (Google.com.ph).

The keyword ranking contest will be judged and awarded on September 30, 2006, at 8:00pm. The venue of the awarding ceremony will be at Pier 1, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, Metro Manila Philippines. Members of SEO Philippines worldwide will be meeting at this SEO event which also serves as the 1st year anniversary of the group.

Sponsors of the Isulong SEOph contest are: SEO Philippines, Ploghost, Alleba Filipino Search Engine, Lakeside Technologies, Philippine Photo Gallery, YDS Web Solution, JNB Web Promotion, Kabarkada Web Design and Hosting, Bitstop Network Services, Healthy Culinary Creations and Cerveo GeoVisitor.

  2. Isulong SEOph - All About SEO by Isulong SEOph » Removing Clickable Color Change on this Isulong SEOph Theme Says:

[...] I made the color changing theme, which is mainly a design by a former co-worker of mine, Stephen Reinhardt who made the Light theme. and I decided to use the same theme with a color changing twist. So that it is quite unique to get more people interested in downloading this theme to generally increase the popularity on the site. The color changing theme uses body ID’s as a type of conditional statement and on every clicked color a cookie is stored on what color the site should be and this is read and placed in the body ID. But in order for it to display, a preliminary page is displayed to store the cookie, and returns to the referring page by a 301 redirect to avoid any issue of duplicate content for SEO, which I believe is fine. But this website is also doing it’s own experiments in the Isulong SEOph SEO Keyword Ranking Contest. And in this contest, time is already an issue since the Isulong SEOph contest ends on September 30, 2006. And I did notice, that Googlebot was crawling each and every color of my site. Although there should not be a problem SEOwise since they all 301 redirect to the pages to avoid duplicate content, there is a time-factor involved in giving Googlebot more pages to crawl that are not really necessary. Spending more time to checking each color just to be redirected to the same content. Thus only in this specific case, I have removed the clickable color changing of this theme on the upper right, but instead, I still made it cool by having each color change depending on the day of the week. That gives you a reason to check out my site everyday. Better yet, why not link to me, bookmark me, digg me, whatever and check my theme color change everyday.
