There are many blog search engines out there, and one of the popular ones is Technorati. These blog search engines can be notified that you have update your blog, and they will visit your site, and even read your RSS feeds just by pinging them. Sending a ping, is like sending a notification.

Two blogs I will give credit to where I found some of the free ping services are Max Kiesler and WebTrafficIdeas who talked about these free ping services:

• Pingoat
• Ping-o-matic
• KingPing

But if you have blog softwares that you can just place in your ping URLs, all you need is the list of URLs to ping. In WordPress, in your Admin Options, go to Write, and you will see where to place your ping URLs. I first saw a list of ping URLs from Gio, until Mike Lopez came out with a longer ping list.
