Blogger to WordPress Problems; Link Building with TLA and Building a .Net team
By Benj Arriola - Posted on Mon Jan 8, 2007- Just the past few days, after trying to import a Blogger account to WordPress, I get this error: Warning: curl_setopt() [function.curl-setopt]: CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safe_mode or an open_basedir is set in /home/username/public_html/path/wp-admin/import/blogger.php on line 99 Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/username/public_html/path/wp-admin/import/blogger.php:99) in /home/username/public_html/path/wp-includes/pluggable-functions.php on line 269. But I solved that problem already with BB2WP, importing the new Blogger Beta into WordPress.

- I am a PHP/MySQL person, and I first started out using Miva running dBaseIII databases. When I decided I needed to get into something more powerful, I was choosing between PHP/MySQL, JSP/MySQL and ASP/MSSQL. After reading several reviews, I ended up using PHP/MySQL. But the problem with that is not every client wants you to use PHP/MySQL. I once had a client that really want JSP and I attempted my best, and I just blew it. I was not able to successfully deliver on time and from then on, I decided I will just outsource projects that are not my forte. On my hosting service, I first tried out JSP but I think I cannot set it up well with my JSP inexperience. I waste a bunch of memory and it slows down the servers. I decided to take it out. But right now my servers now run Ruby on Rails and ASP.Net. Simply because I see a demand for it and I know I need to have these services sooner or later. I pretty much know a few Ruby on Rails people I can outsource work to, but I do not have much .Net people yet. Although I am not a .Net fan, there are also some cool .Net stuff out there. Kellerman Software has a free Zip component, and DotNetNuke is a cool free CMS. I may not be a fan of .Net, but if a lot of people use it and to remain competitive, I guess it is also something I need to start doing.

I’m with you on the PHP/MySQL bit. I prefer PHP over most other languages but as you said sometimes the clients want something different. My current employer insists on having all sites done in ASP which I am not very fond of.

I am suffering from the same problem……ASP is not that much well like our evergreen PHP/MySQL.
Anyways…….I have to go with my clients demand…..hope she is not reading my comment.
